About the Event
Come along and make this gorgeous cardigan that is simply made from 2 granny stitch hexagons! Even if you have never made a granny square before, you will be able to make this cardigan in 6 weeks.
Don’t worry if you have to miss a week or two, as the course includes a series of online videos. You will also be able to get in touch with me whenever you need to for help.
Here’s how it works:
Week 1 - Sign up to the course and come along to your first session where we will be covering the first 5 basic crochet stitches and having a go at the granny square. You can then take your granny square home to practice on during the week. If you’re already confident in making the granny square you can start your first hexagon.
Week 2 - We’ll now choose the colours you’d like to use for your cardigan. I recommend using 4 different colours in a basic double knitting yarn. This will be available for you to buy at 10% off. You’ll need one ball of each to start with and might need to add an extra ball of each colour (or more) depending how big you’d like to make your cardigan. We’ll then begin the first of the 2 granny hexagons. I’ll show you how to change colour for each round. Continue working on your hexagons at home during the week.
Week 3 - We’ll ‘try on’ our hexagons to determine the sleeve depth we’d like. Once we have the right depth we can stop increasing the hexagon all around and start adding body width and sleeve length.
Week 4 - We’ll join our hexagons together to magically become a cardigan! We can add more body length, width, sleeve length at this point if desired.
Week 5 - We’ll continue to adjust the sizing and plan our neck and sleeve edgings.
Week 6 - We’ll add our neck and sleeve edgings (from a number of different options) and I’ll demonstrate how to block out the shape for a nice even finish.
The sessions will be held at Cesca & Woodrow Craft Workshops Studio, Heskin Hall Shopping Village which is situated above the 2 birds tea room. Regrettably the workshop is on the first floor and doesn't have disabled access or facilities. Please contact Rachel on 07989798434 if you require a workshop with disabled access as it may be possible to relocate the workshop to another venue within Heskin Hall Shopping Village, that has disabled access & facilities.
